All That I Once Was Is Lost
In this tree stump next to a trail fence I saw a metaphor for aging and loss. Most people never noticed it, but it stopped me every time to contemplate its past and wonder how long it lived after the last of its limbs were removed. Our lives are similarly destined as we age and lose careers, family, friends, vitality, and health.
